I was riding my ebike along King Street this morning. A car pulled up beside me and a man said "hi there." Without looking first, I replied, "hi" only to discover it was a cop, arm out the window, nothing else to do. And told me to get ready for a $375 fine.
Quickly realizing I had forgotten to put on my helmet, I convinced him that I had one in my trunk, and that I'd pull over "as soon as it was safe to do so," and put it on. He glanced down, to make sure I had my useless and dangerous pedals attached, and drove off.
